New designs for Taikoo Place Redevelopment Project unveiled
Swire Properties unveiled plans for its Taikoo Place redevelopment project, a HK$15 billion investment which will see the developer further transform its Quarry Bay home into a major business and commercial hub in the city. The developer has announced its collaboration with international architects and design firms including Hugh Dutton Associés, Gustafson Porter and Wong & Ouyang (HK) Ltd.
As one of Swire Properties’ most important investments in over a decade, a key highlight is the addition of two triple Grade-A office towers, each spanning a total GFA of 1 million sq ft. The first, “One Taikoo Place”, is expected to be completed in 2018, followed by the second building, ‘Two Taikoo Place’, in 2021. Both office towers will be built to the highest standards of sustainability, targeting LEED Platinum ratings. All floors of “One Taikoo Place” are designed with large 3-metre wide curtain wall window panels, offering panoramic views of Victoria Harbour.
Another outstanding feature is the introduction of “Taikoo Square” and “Taikoo Garden”, designed by award-winning London-based landscape architectural practice Gustafson Porter (famed for the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park). The two gardens, comprising a collection of lush greenery, will provide 69,000 sq ft of open space - equivalent in size to Statue Square in Central - for the enjoyment of the community. The extensive green open space is a rare feature in high-density Hong Kong commercial areas and will form part of the larger fabric of Taikoo Place with their stunning water features, quiet pathways and trees and foliage native to the region. “Via Fiori”, the popular landscaped area facing One Island East, will be renamed “Taikoo Park” and will continue to host vibrant outdoor events, offering entertainment for the community as it does now.
In addition, Paris-based design company Hugh Dutton Associes has been commissioned to design an elevated walkway system that will seamlessly connect the buildings in Taikoo Place, offering easy connectivity for the office community and the public.
