United Christian Hospital expansion works commenced

Established in 1973, United Christian Hospital (UCH) completed an extension project in 1999. This new expansion project with a site area of about 50,000 square meters will increase the total number of beds in UCH from about 1,400 to 1,700, in addition to four new major medical centers, including an oncology center, a continence care center, an adolescent health center and a training center. The main works of the project comprise demolition of existing buildings, construction of a new ambulatory block and extension of existing block.

The project is divided into two stages with Stage I works to commence in 2012 and aim to proceed to the Stage II main works in 2014 for completion in 2021.

AECOM Asia has been appointed by the Hospital Authority (HA) as the project management consultant for the expansion of UCH. This is the largest, single construction project implemented by the HA so far, at an estimated cost of HK$8 billion.

AECOM's service is jointly delivered through the collaboration of multidisciplinary, integrated teams in the Hong Kong and Australia offices. The company's project managers from the health care sector in Brisbane together with the team in Hong Kong, who are familiar with the local practices and regulations, are providing all-rounded service to the client.
