34 building plans approved in October
The Buildings Department approved 34 building plans in October - 11 on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and 15 in the New Territories. Twenty were for apartment and apartment-commercial developments, four for commercial developments, two for factory and industrial developments, and eight for community-services developments. Consent was given for work to start on nine building projects that, when completed, will provide 50,914 sq m of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 331 units, and 23,180 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 10 building projects. The department issued five occupation permits - two on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and one in the New Territories. The declared cost of the new buildings completed in October totaling $1.2 billion. The department also issued nine demolition consents involving nine building structures. A total of 2,348 complaints against unauthorised building works were received, and 1,558 removal orders were issued on unauthorised works.
