Sands Corporation China announced that more than 20 contracts covering design and construction of Phase 5 and 6 of the development at Cotai Strip have been signed. It is expected that work will commence very soon and priority will be given to subcontractors and suppliers in Macau and Mainland China.
     It is also stressed that most of the purchasing such as hotel supplies, food and beverages, transportation and logistics etc, will be done locally and within the region.
     The project will create some 8,000 to 10,000 jobs and will bring in more than MOP1 billion worth of revenue to the Macau SAR. Phase 5 and 6 development is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2011.
