A total of 350 hectares of land will be reclaimed within the next 5 years in Macau. The government has launched the first stage of public consultation for the future town planning. More than half of the reclaimed land will be allocated for public facilities. An appropriate amount of land will be reserved for public housing projects.
The reclamation areas, totaling 350 hectares, are mainly located along the coast of the southern and eastern parts of Macau peninsula, and also north of Cotai.
The reclaimed land will be sufficient for Macua¡¯s development in the next 20 to 30 years. The new land will improve Macau's public space and support the continuous economic growth of the SAR, which is becoming a major tourism destination in Asia.
