Bai E Tan district planning announced
The Guangzhou Municipal Government has released development plans for the Bai E Tan district. Bai E Tan is planned to become the CBD on the western side of Guangzhou which is merging fast with Foshan City.
     The Bai E Tan district will have a planned area of 35.11 sq km. A large portion of land, about 38% will be reserved for residential projects. Approximately 9.8 million sq m of commercial property will be developed. The new district is planned to accommodate a population of 780,000 and create 670,000 jobs.
     At the centre of the Bai E Tan commercial district, a 600-meter tall high-rise is proposed and pending approval from the Municipal Planning Bureau. Other new projects under planning are Bai E Tan Convention Centre, Union Square, the Promenade and a public park.
     The area is well-connected by the rail systems, major roads and a new cross-river tunnel is also proposed.
