Infrastructure works in Tseung Kwan O proposed
The Government has proposed infrastructure works at Town Centre South and Tiu Keng Leng in Tseung Kwan O to make available the two areas for planned. The Town Centre South area is a new reclamation and largely undeveloped, except for a housing development and two schools in Area 65. Tiu Keng Leng is partly developed for residential uses and schools. The Feasibility Study on Further Development of Tseung Kwan O, completed in December 2005, recommends high quality medium-density commercial/residential developments in the undeveloped areas to accommodate a population of about 25,000 people, a civic node with government/institution/community facilities and open spaces. The site formation and infrastructure works will make available the two areas for the planned development.
The works, scheduled to start in late 2009 for completion by early 2012, will affect approximately 10.7 hectares of foreshore and seabed at the south of Tseung Kwan O Town Centre, with the existing box culvert outfall and the associated seawall removed. Marine pile decking, caisson seawall, seawalls, landing steps and drainage outfalls will be built while the existing drainage channel will be filled up.
