Redevelopment of Caritas Medical Centre commenced
The Hospital Authority signed the foundation contract for the demolition of the 30-year-old Wai Ming Block of Caritas Medical Centre (CMC). The site will be made available for construction of a new ambulatory/rehabilitation block and the execution of foundation works under the Phase Two of the CMC Redevelopment Project.
The new block will accommodate 260 convalescent and rehabilitation beds, ambulatory care and clinical support facilities.
The contract, amounting to HK$246.9 million, also covers the reprovision of the lift tower of Wai Tak Block. The entire CMC Redevelopment Phase Two Project will take four and a half years to complete. As well as the new block, there will also be a new rehabilitation garden, two link bridges connecting Wai Shun Block with the new block and Wai Oi Block, as well as infrastructural improvement in roads and utilities.
