Upgrading works of Mong Kok shopping areas planned
The Development Bureau said six projects under the Mong Kok shopping areas improvement plan have been identified for priority action. The Urban Renewal Authority will take up three projects.
The six projects ready for implementation include the Tung Choi Street (Goldfish Street) Streetscape Improvement Project; Nullah Road Greening Project; Lai Chi Kok Road Greening Project; Nullah Road Linkage Improvement Project; Prince Edward Road West Linkage Improvement Project; and Soy Street Destination Project.
The Urban Renewal Authority will take up and co-ordinate the implementation of the Tung Choi Street and Lai Chi Kok Road projects, as well as part of the Nullah Road Greening Project.
The authority will commission consultants to prepare detailed designs for these projects in October. The designs will form the basis for further public consultation with stakeholders in the fourth quarter of 2010. Implementation works will start mid-2011.
The Transport Department has devised the implementation schemes for the linkage improvement projects at Nullah Road and Prince Edward Road West and the Highways Department is now conducting investigations for the implementation of the projects.
The Government is identifying the agent for the Soy Street destination project, the implementation details of which will be discussed by the Yau Tsim Mong District Council.
