Elevated walkway in Tseung Kwan O planned
The Government published a notice in the Gazette on construction of an elevated walkway between Tong Ming Street and Tong Tak Street in Tseung Kwan O, aiming to connect the existing footbridge leading to Sheung Tak Shopping Centre and the future Tseung Kwan O Station development.
     The proposed works include construction of an elevated walkway of approximately 180 metres long with 5 m clear width; provision of two lifts, one at each end of the proposed elevated walkway; permanent closure and demolition of an existing footbridge ramp; permanent or temporary closure of sections of the existing footpath, footbridge and carriageway and area underneath the existing footbridge ramp; reconstruction of the existing cycle parking area; conversion of sections of the area underneath the existing footbridge ramp into a footpath, landscape area and cycle parking area; conversion of sections of the existing footpath into a planter;  and ancillary works such as associated ground level works, landscaping works, drainage works, electrical and mechanical works.
     The project is scheduled to commence in early 2010 for completion in 2011.
