Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced that it will manage the Fairmont Haitang Bay Resort, Sanya, China scheduled to open in 2011.   Sanya, on the southernmost tip of Hainan Island, is fast emerging as a premier tropical resort destination.   
     The resort will enjoy a beachfront location and 702 spacious guestrooms and suites including Fairmont Gold, the brand's exclusive lifestyle offering featuring warm and personalized service with amenities such as a private reception desk and a comfortable guest lounge.  In addition, guests can choose from 50 one- and two-bedroom villa suites, as well as a Presidential Villa offering more than 5,000 square feet space and private butlers.
   Guests will enjoy a variety of restaurants and bars, including a Chinese restaurant.  A wide range of meeting and function space can accommodate groups of varying sizes, including an 8,600 square foot grand ballroom, a 4,300 square foot junior ballroom and additional indoor as well as outdoor function space for special events. The resort is developed by Beijing-based Antaeus Group, a leading real estate company that has developed more than 2 million square meters of real estate in China.
     Atkins is the architect for the project. Construction is expected to commence within 2008 and the hotel is scheduled for completion in 2011.
