Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) and numerous industry organizations, the Quality Public Housing Construction and Maintenance Awards 2008 is now open for nominations.
Held for the sixth consecutive year, the event aims to commend outstanding construction and maintenance projects, contractors, supervisors, workers and Housing Department (HD) project teams for their excellent performance in the construction and maintenance of public housing.
Ms Ada Fung, Deputy Director of Housing (Development and Construction) said the HA has a fruitful relationship with the construction and maintenance industry. The authority has been partnering to enhance the build quality and maintenance of public housing. The awards will facilitate experience sharing and encourage practitioners to improve quality standards in craftsmanship and service delivery.
Co-organizing the event are Hong Kong Construction Association Ltd, Hong Kong Federation of Electrical & Mechanical Contractors Ltd, the Hong Kong Construction Sub-Contractors Association, Hong Kong Construction Industry Employees General Union, Construction Site Workers General Union, Labour Department, Occupational Safety & Health Council, Hong Kong and Kowloon Electrical Engineering and Appliances Trade Workers Union, Construction Industry Council and the Vocational Training Council.
The awards are classified into two categories: "new works projects" and "maintenance/ improvement projects". Candidates will be assessed by their performance in terms of work quality, occupational safety and health, environmental protection, ethical integrity, partnership and customer service.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the HA/ HD website (
www.housingauthority.gov.hk). Completed nomination forms should reach the HA headquarters on or before August 30.
