City Art Square in Sha Tin completed
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and Sun Hung Kai Properties Charitable Fund (SHKP) have completed the development of City Art Square as part of the beautification of Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza.
Located adjacent to Royal Park Hotel, City Art Square is a large-scale outdoor art plaza combining international public art and Olympic elements, featuring public arts by local and international artists and designers. The Square has an Olympic element to celebrate the upcoming Games, making it a new cultural and tourist attraction in Hong Kong. The exhibit, with an area of approximately 190,000 sq ft, has 19 works by overseas, mainland and local artists and designers. Another attraction is the City Art Square's celebration of the Olympic Games.
The idea of transforming the Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza into a City Art Square was supported by the Hong Kong Sports Federation and Olympic Committee and Sha Tin District Council. The LCSD is the overall coordinator of the project and SHKP as a donor is responsible for the design, construction and funding of the project.
