The Londoner Macao to open in January 2021

Sands China recently announced The Londoner Macao will be opened in January 2021. The opening of the Sands Cotai US$2 billion (MOP16 billion) revamp would match with the 2021 Chinese New Year, set to start on February 12.

The Londoner Macao project features two hotels, the Londoner Court with approximately 370 luxury suites and The Londoner Hotel with approximately 600 suites. The refurbished complex will also have a new 6,000-seat arena, new dining and entertainment offerings and recreations of classic British landmarks, including an exterior facade of the property modelled on the world-famous Palace of Westminster and Houses of Parliament and a replica of Big Ben.
The development will also include 'British-feel' retail and dining venues, including a British styled restaurant named Churchill's Table and a gastropub by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, together with a VR experience, Dongbei, Sichuan and Thai restaurants.

Macau International Airport is expected to receive 3.8 million passengers in 2021, about 40 per cent of those registered in 2019. The projected values depend on the evolution of the pandemic. Due to the impact of the pandemic, passenger flow between January and November 17 reached 1.06 million, a significant reduction compared to more than eight million passengers in the same period in 2019, the director of marketing for the Macau International Airport (CAM) company Eric Hio Kin Fong said that the number of passengers in November increased by 20 per cent compared to October. Regarding the number of tourists for 2021, the airport's management company expects a progressive upward trend to continue, at a time when the airport receives between 1,000 and 2,000 passengers per day on 30 daily flights. Currently, only three airlines Air Macau, Eva Air and Starlux Airlines, both from Taiwan, are operating.
