23 building plans approved

The Buildings Department approved 23 building plans in January - seven on Hong Kong Island, 11 in Kowloon and five in the New Territories. Thirteen were for apartment and apartment-commercial developments, seven for commercial developments, two for factory and industrial developments, and one for community services developments.

Consent was given for work to start on 10 building projects that will provide 199,859 sq m of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 3,259 units, and 62,932 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use.

The department received notification of the start of work for 11 building projects. It also issued 17 occupation permits - five on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.

The buildings certified for occupation have 35,313 sq m of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 344 units, and 46,733 sq m for non-domestic use. The declared cost of new buildings completed in January totalled $4.2 billion.
