Lutron Electronics, the world's leading lighting control systems specialist, today announced that klapsons, The Boutique Hotel of Singapore has completed installation work on a comprehensive lighting system designed to provide a distinctive atmosphere in keeping with its hip and fashionable image.
Situated in the heart of Singapore's central business district, klapsons is a four-storey designer hotel that aims to differentiate itself from other more conventional hotels by being fun and innovative. No two of the 17 rooms are the same, bringing freshness and new perspectives to business travellers.
The Lutron system provides lighting control in the lobby, guest rooms, restaurant and other public areas. A key requirement also was shading from the fierce tropical sun.
"Lighting has only recently become a top priority in hotels. At klapsons, we focus on innovation and delivering the best experience. Lighting plays an integral role in this and Lutron had the resources and capabilities to achieve what we intended," said Adrian Lee, Director of klapsons. "Many of our guests expressed that they have never seen a system that integrates the control of electric light and curtains, which is very impressive. It also gives a sense of quality to our guests when they enter the room. The thoughtfulness of design is reflected in the details."
klapsons' lobby is equipped with a modern LED lighting system where the background tones can vary to give off a sense of freshness during the day and a romantic ambience in the evening with alternation of colours and light intensity. To achieve this effect without increasing operational and maintenance costs, the hotel has specified Lutron's LCP128 Lighting Control System as the main lighting controller.
The same system is deployed in the hotel's contemporary restaurant, Lucas, which is decorated with floor to ceiling glass windows and the restaurant has to deal with the influx of bright tropical daylight which can become an issue during busy lunch hours. As such, a special lighting design is set for this area and Lutron¡¯s LCP128 thus helps the restaurant automatically transit to the right lighting environment at the right time.
The lighting system provides Lucas with a distinct and separate atmosphere during breakfast, lunch and dinner. The LCP128 system is equipped with Lutron's patented RTISS (Real-Time Illumination Stability System) technology that filters the electric current before it goes through the lighting control device, ensuring a stable light level that does not flicker at all times.
Meanwhile, when hotel guests insert their key cards to enter the rooms, lights inside the guestroom will be automatically turned on to a day-time welcome mode ¨C curtains will open silently; and soft lights will be switched on in the darker parts of the room. Upon entering the rooms at night, a night-time welcome mode will be switched on. The night curtains will be drawn, the day curtain closed and a warm light activated.
Sharing Lutron's philosophy that "lighting control should include control of natural light", klapsons also installed Lutron's Sivoia QED electronic shades to allow precision control of natural light into all rooms. The hotel has thoughtfully installed the light switch next to the bed in every guestroom for easy accessibility and convenience. Using Lutron seeTouch keypad with backlit and engraved buttons, guests can easily and conveniently control the exact lighting environment they desire, even in the dark.
"Lutron has a wealth of experience in lighting the hospitality sector, we are pleased to learn that klapsons placed so much emphasis on lighting and that lighting is becoming an integral part of hotel design," said Edmond Chan, Asia Senior Marketing Communications Manager at Lutron Electronics.
