2010 China Sustainable Building successfully held in Shanghai
Organized by China Construction News and VNU Exhibitions Asia, China Sustainable Building Forum (CSB 2010) was held on March 24 at the Shanghai Radisson Hotel Pudong Century Park. The Forum explored the latest trends and pressures impacting the growth of green building in China, with an emphasis on low carbon design, green building materials and energy efficient solutions. The forum brought together approximately 300 leading industry experts from variety of sectors to share knowledge and discuss the most pressing topics facing green building industry in China today.
     With the improvement of the essentiality of urbanization and global economic recovery, the industry insiders not only face a range of challenges to promote the efficient utilization of energy and resources but also on how to achieve optimal building development through convert from those issues to action.  The 2010 forum covered important themes such as energy saving and building energy efficiency, zero energy emission buildings design, delivering low cost green building productivity, ecological settlements construction. The keynote speakers in the morning include Mr. Bingren Li, Chief Economist of Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development, Mr. Zaidong Zhang, the Chairman of Beijing Fengshang Real Estate. Co Ltd, Mr. Xue Zhong, the Deputy General Manager of DASSO Industrial Group Co Ltd, and Mr. Quinn Lu, China Representative of German Sustainable Building Council, etc.
     The panel discussion in the afternoon focused on the Low Carbon Strategy on Architectural Design and these panelists include Mr. Xue Kongkuan, the President of Beijing Modern Building Institute, Architects & Engineers, Mr. Michael C Mitchell, CEO of MCM Group, Mr. David Baggs, Technical Director of Ecospecifier Global and panelists including Mr. Tianxin Wang, General Manager of Shanghai Nikko Architectural Consultation Co., Ltd and Mr. Ting Yu, Deputy Chief Architect of Shanghai Xian Dai and Mr. Zhang Min, Associate Professor of School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University. All panelists exchanged their view of the urban planning influenced on the green building design, the practice experience of energy efficiency teleology application and the idea of green architectural design in national pavilions of Shanghai world Expo. All panelists agreed that government played an important role to promote the development of green building industry through enacting the policy, meanwhile, try to explore how sustainability can be achievable during the entire life cycle of building. The panel speakers addressed these questions with insightful views which won the praises form audiences.
     CSB 2010 provided the best platform in China for industry player to communicate, learn and share their know ledges and experiences, which encourage us to learn the advanced technologies and experiences from western countries, more importantly, to optimize green building development with Chinese feature. There are some leadership companies from variety of sectors to attend the forum, including Shanghai Research Institute of Building Science (Group) Co Ltd, Institute of Environmental Engineering China Building Material Academy, American Consulate General, Consulate General of French, Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Germany Consulate General, Madrid International, Royal Norwegian Consulate General, PAN-CHINA Construction Group, LANDSEA Group, CCDI, ECADI, Shanghai Xian Dai Architectural Design Group, Philip China, Somfy China, Southeast University, Tongji University, Jiaotong University, etc. We believe such events will continue to raise the awareness and adoption of environment friendlier, more sustainable designs, materials and construction methods among builders and developers in the region.
