MOU signed between Hong Kong and the Mainland to formulate the expansion of air services
In a recent statement, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) welcomes the affirmation of Hong Kong’s status as an international aviation hub as stated in the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” (Outline Development Plan). The AA will study the Outline Development Plan in detail, and will work closely with stakeholders along the directions laid down in the Outline Development Plan for future developments, with an aim to contribute to the  strengthening and enhancement of Hong Kong’s status as an international aviation hub and aviation training management centre. Meanwhile, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) will strive to co-operate with the airports in the Greater Bay Area to achieve mutual benefits, promote passenger and cargo traffic, and contribute to the synergistic economic development in the region.
The AA will continue to develop its intermodal connections, and also welcomes the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Hong Kong and the Mainland on February 19, to formulate the expansion of the air services arrangements. In line with the Outline Development Plan’s direction of supporting Hong Kong’s civil aviation development, the MOU mentions that Hong Kong and the Mainland would actively expand the intermodal code sharing arrangements and further expand the domestic and international air services network of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
